Campground list

Houston Mesa Campground

Houston Mesa Campground has a section for horse campers only. It is equipped with tie ups, water, 2 corrals per site, shade, restrooms, coin operated showers, tables and grills. There are pull thru and back-in spots.

There are 15 trails consisting of more difficult trails, moderate hills over a consistent surface, possibly narrow trails and shorter steeper slopes.

No RV hook-ups on Horse Only camping side.

Our experience: The corrals were nice and spots were in wooded spots for partial shade. The spots had decent space for privacy. No check-in, you just drive to your spot.

Last we checked it was $16/day

LIttle Elden Springs Horse Camp was made for horse campers ONLY! Each site has highline ties, picnic table and fire ring. The campground has water and pit toilets. No showers. The spots are pull-thru. Larger sites can accommodate a combined truck and trailer length up to 35ft.

Trails: Easy, moderate and hard trails with flat and mountainous terrain.

Our experience: We love Little Elden! It’s a secluded campground with lots of amazing trails. We brought portable panels for the horses as we were not comfortable with highline tying. There was room for 2 corrals, however the ground is a little rocky but not horrible. It was simple enough to arrange corrals so they would have a space to lay down if they wanted. The man that manages the campground was great! He was helpful and checked up on us to make sure we were okay and accommodated us in taking down a highline so it was not hanging down in the corrals.
